Inside the newly developed Napper Centre at Cranleigh Village Hospital, we designed and painted a timeline mural that brings the site’s long history to life—framing Cranleigh’s story from 1170 to the present between the restored timber beams of the original 1446 building. Created in collaboration with local volunteers, funded by the National Heritage Fund, and developed with input from Park Mead Primary School to ensure clarity for all ages, the mural combines readable chronology with playful illustrations that engage children and adults alike. Additional touches include a painted quote on the stairs and a poignant artwork behind the door marking the original stair location and honouring the way doctors and nurses once carried patients up for treatment, connecting past care practices with the renewed life of the building.
