Broome Place Garden Mural
We recently completed a mural project for Broome Place in Aveley, a retirement housing complex. This project funded by START Thurrock, a local arts foundation. To ensure the artwork reflected the residents’ preferences, we hosted a workshop where they expressed a desire for an uplifting nature-themed design that wasn’t too bright. They specified animals such as robins, geese, blue tits, butterflies, hedgehogs, and squirrels to be featured in the mural. After the workshop, we created two different designs for the residents to vote on. The chosen design was then painted over three days using spray paint. We are very pleased with the color palette, which complements the existing fence sections on either side, creating a cohesive and polished finish. The bright pops of colour and illustrative style blend harmoniously, and both the community and residents are delighted with the final artwork.
